The Bellandur metro station, one of the most anticipated stops on Namma Metro's Blue Line, has long been pegged as a mid-2026 milestone for Bengaluru's Outer Ring Road (ORR) corridor. Recent tracking of the project, however, shows the timeline has moved. This metro station is slated to become operational December 2026 instead of June 2026. According to recent commuter-focused reporting, a cluster of Blue Line stations originally targeted for a June 2026 opening are now expected around December 2026, among them HSR Layout, Bellandur and Doddanekundi — all on the busy ORR stretch where commuter demand is highest. These are precisely the neighbourhoods that have seen the heaviest residential and commercial construction over the past decade, making the delay a talking point for both daily commuters and property buyers.
The reasons behind the slippage are largely technical rather than financial or political. As one analysis notes, large elevated corridors depend on a long chain of dependencies — viaduct completion, track-laying, electrification, signalling, station finishing and mandatory safety inspections before any line can carry passengers, and a holdup in any one of these can push opening dates by months.
