Yellow Line Frequency Improves

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will induct its 7th train on the Yellow Line from January 15, 2026. From Monday to Saturday, trains will run every 10 minutes instead of 13 minutes. On Sundays, peak-hour frequency will improve to 14 minutes from 15 minutes. This marks a significant step forward for the RV Road–Bommasandra corridor, which serves critical employment hubs and residential zones across South Bengaluru.

BMRCL targets August 2026 for all 15 trainsets to be operational, which will cut peak-hour frequency from around 7 minutes to nearly 5 minutes. The fleet expansion responds to growing commuter demand on the 19.15 km Yellow Line, which was inaugurated on August 10, 2025. The expansion helps manage heavy demand across the eighteen-kilometer elevated metro corridor effectively.

Commuters heading to the Electronic City tech hub can now enjoy a much faster daily commute. BMTC introduced new feeder buses linking Haralur, HSR Layout, and Sarjapur Road to Yellow Line stations like Hosa Road, which improves last-mile travel, reduces congestion, and significantly increases daily metro ridership across Bengaluru's suburban areas. These interconnections strengthen the overall transit ecosystem for professionals and residents relying on the corridor.

For homebuyers and property investors, improved metro frequency directly impacts connectivity and rental yields in adjacent localities. The improvements aim to ease morning crowds between R.V. Road and Bommasandra, reducing commute uncertainty and travel time variability. End-to-end travel from RV Road to Bommasandra may cost ₹50–₹60, depending on the ticketing method and fare revisions.

Operational stability matters equally. The addition of more rakes follows a period of rigorous testing and trials, with trains featuring advanced systems to ensure safety and comfort for all riders. BMRCL plans to monitor passenger flow to adjust timings even further if needed. By August 2026, the Yellow Line will achieve its full design capacity, positioning it as a reliable spine for South Bengaluru's growth corridors.
