The Bangalore Yellow Line Metro is 19.15 km long with 16 stations, inaugurated on August 10, 2025, by PM Modi. The line runs from RV Road to Bommasandra along Hosur Road, connecting the Electronic City IT hub to the metro network.
Operating Hours & Train Frequency
First trains depart at 6:00 AM (Tuesday–Saturday), 5:05 AM (Mondays), and 7:00 AM (Sundays), with the last train leaving RV Road at 11:55 PM. Trains run every 5–10 minutes during peak hours and 10–15 minutes off-peak. Since opening on August 11, the Yellow Line has ferried 60,000 to 80,000 passengers per day on average.
Fare Structure & Ticketing
The Yellow Line Metro fare follows a distance-based system, with tokens priced from ₹10 to ₹95, while smart cards and QR tickets offer 5–10% discounts. Ticket prices start at just ₹10 for trips up to 2 km and up to ₹95 for distances over 30 km. Commuters can buy QR tickets via WhatsApp by selecting their source and destination, paying via UPI, and scanning at station gates—with a 5% discount versus counter tokens.
Key Stations & Connectivity
Key stops like Jayadeva Hospital, Silk Board, and Electronic City improve connectivity, efficiently linking residential areas to major IT and business hubs. RV Road currently acts as the primary interchange station with the Green Line. Jayadeva Hospital will connect to the Pink Line for Bannerghatta Road commuters. End-to-end journey time is approximately 35 minutes.
Impact on South Bangalore Real Estate
Property prices rise 8-19% along the corridor due to demand. Bengaluru residential prices may rise 40% by 2027 as Yellow and Pink metro lines expand connectivity, according to a Colliers India report from April 2026. Electronic City recorded a 45 percent increase in property values between 2023 and 2025. Metro stations 600 metres or less from residential clusters deliver close to full economic value; stations 700-1,200 metres away require feeder shuttles or walking-friendly pathways to deliver meaningful end-user benefit.
Future Expansion Plans
A proposed extension towards Hosur may add new stations in the future, further improving the Yellow Line metro route and regional connectivity. A Bommasandra–Hosur extension is under planning, expected to connect Bengaluru to Tamil Nadu's industrial hub in Hosur, pending DPR approvals.
